The Network Analytic Process

A structured process, supported by expertise and technology

The time required for a Network Analytic is about six weeks depending on scope and complexity.

Step 1: Step 1: Purpose and brief

Clarify the problem the client wishes to solve and how this relates to high performing stakeholder and influence networks.

Example:  A government agency wishes to mobilise professional networks to take responsibility for defining future sector workforce training needs.

Step 2: Research design and survey

Design the survey structure and questions, identify the recipient audience and manage the survey process through our own purpose-designed on-line survey tool.

Example: Survey design sets out to identify connections and influence flows amongst individuals and organisations who are influential in sector training and who are motivated to lead.

Step 3: Analysis and results

Clean and organise the data and undertake social network analysis and statistical tests using our expertise and network analysis software.

Example: More than 1000 survey respondents provide a rich picture of influence webs across professions, organisations and regions. Important, influential and brokering organisations within the network were identified.

Step 4: Insight and mobilise action

Provide results in interactive web-based environment. Interpret results and build skills and evidence-informed strategies in client organisation to mobilise network performance.  Act of sharing visualisation with the network itself is a powerful change tool.

Example: Network visualisation in interactive web tool, allowing insight and exploration. Workshops and skill sessions to develop network strategy and coach clients how to leverage important, influential and brokering organisations in the network devleopment process.  Develop self sustaining trajectory.
