Evidence-based Guidelines for Obesity and Overweight

Description:
Synergia is leading the development of the implementation and training plan associated with the evidence-based guidelines developed by the Clinical Trials Research Unit. These clinical guidelines are for the management and treatment of obesity and overweight in children/youth and adults in New Zealand.

Description:
Working with clinicians, patient representatives, and management to design and project manage a home haemodialysis training programme for people in Auckland and Waitemata district health boards.

Intervention Rate Analysis for Elective Procedures - Cataract, Hip and Knee Replacements
Description:
The level of cataract surgery and hip/knee replacements has been growing rapidly over the last few years, driven by aging populations, increasing prevalence of underlying disease states, better technology, increased acceptance and usage of surgery and funding changes. As part of an initiative to develop a long-term demand and capacity.

Renal Service Design                                                        
Description:
This assignment focused on redesigning the current renal service in response to growing demand for in-centre dialysis services. The work used System Dynamics modelling to explore the drivers of renal demand and the clinical and financial outcomes of different design options.

Optimising Clinical Inpatient Capacity                       
Description:
Philip Gandar and Ray Naden undertook a project on behalf of MidCentral Health to rethink issues of resource management and practice to address winter season capacity limitations and constraints on electives throughput.

Description:

System Dynamics Modelling of Retinal Screening
Description:
This work was undertaken to develop a clearer understanding of the actual volumes involved in Retinal screening and subsequent clinics. The outputs of this work were used to negotiate additional contracted volumes with the Ministry of Health. In addition, the model was used to produce quarterly reports on budgeted versus actual volumes.

Health Outcomes Team review                                    
Description:
Review of health promotion team performance, focus, and structure. The review resulted in significant refocus and restructure of the service.

National Elective Services Project                              
Description:
Supported the initial implementation design development for the national elective services project that covered the five year period from 1998 – 2003.

Differential Service Response                                       
Description:
This assignment for CYF involved the development of a programme implementation model to guide the establishment of a radically different service configuration. The implementation model incorporated alternative investment strategies for the development of service capacity in agency, community and NGO coordination functions, allowing each part of the complex service system to understand the interaction between service capacity, capability development, service and infrastructure establishment and service delivery during a complex transition from one service model to another.

High and Complex Needs Unit                                      
Description:
Synergia undertook a review of the functions of this intersectoral service then lead the implementation of changes both within the service, in respective Ministry policy and funding and with local collaboratives of agencies and NGOs.
