QUALIFIATIONS:
B.A., DIP Graphic Design

EXPERIENCE
:
Jacqueline Aust has fifteen years experience in local government focusing on strategic planning and policy development in a collaborative environment. More recently the drivers for this work have been the intent of the Local Government Act 2002 to move local government from short term output-based planning toward longer term outcome-based planning developed with those affected.

Jacqueline’s role within the local government sector has been wide ranging; from managing new development and marketing programmes in museums and libraries, to leading a team of 10 people and external consultants reviewing council business and operating processes using systems tools for a mid-sized council, and developing policy and strategies in the areas of economic development, education and the arts.

These roles have included managing research processes, preparation and presentation of proposals and designing of implementation strategies with operational teams. Her work has included guiding research proposals, utilising systems tools to map understanding and motivating groups of people (politicians, senior management and staff) to design and implement effective strategies. Ensuring appropriate targets and measures are knitted into the framework of each of these areas has been a fundamental focus of success.

More recently she has instigated partnering policy and collaborative strategic development working with a number of government and other agencies in the health, social, education, economic and environmental sectors in the Auckland region and specifically in the Rodney District.
