Issue
Health organisations were invited to submit proposals to deliver Better, Sooner, More Convenient primary health care to New Zealanders. The aim was to reduce sector fragmentation and achieve greater levels of clinical leadership and service integration. The Auckland region (1.4 million people) was made up of many health providers which have not traditionally worked closely together. The timeframe to develop a ‘transformational’ proposal was very tight. Synergia was engaged into an environment of extreme complexity and pressure.
Solution
Synergia worked constructively with multiple organisations and professional stakeholders through clinical workstreams and discussion documents to distil new ideas for transformational change and weave them into a proposal for whole system change which addressed ideas as diverse as clinical networks, new commissioning models, strategies for acute demand management and integrated family health centres.
Outcome
The proposal was completed on time, to a high quality. The bid was one of nine successful outcomes from about seventy competing proposals.
Synergia’s experience spans the continuum of the health and social service systems, including national policy development, population and public health, primary and community care through to specialist hospital
